V-6 trigger question

The plactic wire jackets around the last 3 inches of several of the 6 trigger wires have deteriorated exposing the wire. My question is can I clip the last 3 inches of each wire and crimp on new ends or even cut back further like 6" - 8" and solder on new wire without ruining the performance of the trigger.

Here's a picture:

This is probably a stipid question, but I am pretty new to working on engines . . .

Should not be a problem, use same size wire, Kline crimper from Home Depot.

Re: V-6 trigger question

Use heat shrink tubing around the joint to prevent water/corrosion....

Thought I'd post an after shot of the wiring.

I was able to trim the wires back and crimp on new terminal ends. I used heat shrink on top of the liquid electric tape then the rubber boots.

I also replaced the wiring to the coils which we're all busted up from the saltwater corrosion.
Got a whole new set of 6 coils and exhaust housing cover for $60 on ebay.
