Do any of you use a freshwater trolling motor in saltwater? Have you noticed any damage or has it been ok with a washdown? Thanks.

No problem!

Grease up the mounting clamps.
Remove the prop and grease the shaft.

Be diligent about rinsing it off with fresh water.
Spray it down with a lubricant...WD40 or other light spray.

Be careful about nicking the paint and touch-up any nicks.

I have been using a fresh water trolling motor in salt water for over a year now with no problems. I always wash my boat and motors down with SALT AWAY after every trip. Hope this helps.

Great to hear. They are less expensive. Not to be an amature...but what kind of grease would be good? Do you spray the whole thing with wd40? Spray a rag and wipe down the head unit, shaft and motor? Thanks.

I use a freshwater trolling motor in salt water. So far so good. I just wash it down with fresh water when I'm cleaning my boat. It has places where the paint has come off and I run it most of the time when I'm out all day.
