Using 24V trolling motor in G3?

I have a used G3 center console boat and I'd like to upgrade the trolling motor to a 24volt because the 12 volt dies after tugging my 18 foot boat around most of the day. According to G3 website my boat has 12 volt receptacle and wires. All the wires are run under the deck and through all the foam and stuff and I don't see anyway to pull them out and be able to put thicker wires in. Will I likely burn up my trolling motor if I use a 24v motor with this current setup?

What trolling motor do you want to use? What gauge wires are now installed? And what is the distance from the batteries to the T/M? You might be able to pull new wires in using the old ones as a pull string.

I'm just wanting to upgrade to a 24V motor, I like the way the min kota riptides look since I might use it in saltwater, motorguide great white is also an option. I'm not sure what gauge wires are in there right now, I just know on G3 website it says that this boat is "wired for 12V trolling motor with receptacle on bow". I thought about perhaps tying the new wires onto the back of the old ones and then pulling them out, but I have no idea where the wires run through all the foam and stuff and it sure would suck if they got stuck somewhere along the line and I ended up with no wires hooked up at all.

a representative from G3 says that the boat is pre-wired with 8 gauge wire. Will this suffice for a 24V hookup with like a 70lb thrust trolling motor? Perhaps I should install a good circuit breaker....

Perhaps you should install a good circuit breaker? Ahhh - change that to "you MUST install a good circuit breaker!".
