I have two very strong running 1997 Johnson Oceanrunners. On the water they run great, once the boa is back on dry land, I noticed that I was seeing fresh oil dripping down the ides of one outboard. After chaeking for leaks, i found none...what I did find is oil puddling inside of each carb intake. Question is, does the height of where the oil resevoirs are mounted make a difference? THe engine in question has it's remote take a little higher than where the hose enters the cowl...could gravety and siphon have anything to do with this? I woudn't think that the carbs should be getting any il when the boat is not running and it certainly shouldn't be dripping out of the throats of the carbs.
