Hello everyone...I am a new boater and just bought my first used boat two weeks ago, a 1993 Sunbird Corsair 170 SS. I was looking for a user/owner manual for this particular boat. Please help me find a copy of user/owner manual for 1993 Sunbird Corsair 170 SS or help me identify the three buttons I see on the
lever/handle for moving forward and reverse.

Welcome to iBoats!

Boats don't typically come with Owner's manuals like Cars do.
What is it that you are wanting to know about your boat? You can probably find most of the information right here on "Boat University"!!!!

Hi, thanks for quick response. I want to see how the different parts of the boat works, Like the lever/handle to move forward and backward, there are other buttons on that lever/handle.

What motor do you have? Post some pics, via Photobucket and the IMG Code and you'll get plenty of responses.

Welcome and ditto to what "woodonglass" stated...

Boats don't usually have "owners manuals"...however I would recommend for your safety and the safety of all who come aboard your boat, you make the time to take U S Coast Guard Boating Safety course...many of your answers are there and you'll be glad you did if the need ever arises that you find yourself in any kind of emergency...

If you post up pics of what you want to know...you'll get your answers...

From your first inquiry, I would venture a guess and say the buttons on the shift/throttle lever are for the tilt/trim of the engine...

Enjoy and Happy Boating...:)

Thanks...Commander and Woodonglass, I am still not clear on the usage of the other buttons like the white round thing in the middle and under the top of the lever, there is a red button. Please see the image on my first thread.

I am not very familiar with that particular type of control, maybe if you post up a description of the engine that it is connected to, someone with more knowledge will be able to help you out...

The only GUESS I can come up with is, the White button could be a shift disconnect, allowing you to throttle the engine without engaging the gears/prop, and the red might be a lock out button to prevent shifting into forward or reverse...

To second GT, white is so you can apply throttle while in neutral. Red is to shift out of neutral into forward or reverse. And of course, the black toggle is for tilt/trim.

I just purchased a Sunbird myself....a '94 200BR and had the same dilemma. Now after 2 voyages with it, I am a little more comfortable with
it and the white button is indeed the throttle lockout! Mine has a OMC 4.3 V6, which seems to be the most popular drivetrain on this boat.
So find yourself a knowledgeable OMC shop if you don't DIY. If you find any part resources (I need a new right blower grate) let me know and I'll do the same.
