Used TLDI - inspection

Hi,

I'm currently shopping for a used boat and found one with '05 Nissan 50HP TLDI. Never had hands on one of TLDI's, any specifics to look for when inspecting a used one?

Examination would be no different than any other brand.

The 50 TLDI is a great outboard. Insist that you can hear it run. If it has high hours, there is a pump belt that could be replaced....but, that is routine maintenance. Like Elvin says- check the usual suspects....inspect it like you would any other used outboard....

They can act up if the battery is too small or toast....

Outside of that, they have been extremely reliable, efficient, and fun to run-

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing anything specific to TLDI motor. Time to dust off my compression tester
