Uprating from 8hp to 15hp

Hi, I've just bought a Mariner 8hp sailmate 2004, and I've been told that the engine is the same for 6, 8, 9.9, 10 and 15hp versions and is basically a Tohatsu engine. How do I go about uprating to a 15hp. I presume I have to adjust the carbs or fit new jets but am not sure...

Oh dear, has anyone got any idea who makes this engine? It is 2002, black leg with a silver engine hood. I was under the impression that it was made by Mercury and rebadged as a Mariner simply by changing the engine hood colour but now I'm really confused...HELP:'(

I think yamaha made some small mariners.

You were told wrong ..... small yamaha and mariner engines were similar many years ago (about 80's), then merc and mariner were similar after that, now recently small mercs are made by tohatsu as I understand it .... your mariner sailmate should be similar to the merc, but the 8hp is definately not upgradable to a 15hp ...
