Upper unit confusion

:devil: recently i had a shop install new gears in my upper unit, needless to say i scored the chamber the gears sat in so they sold me a used upper case. $400.00 lol oh well im a adult anyway i got the boat back today i find the upper unit is a alpha one ( a older one)
The upper unit i had was a gen ll, does this make any difference in term's or reliability or compatability, it bolted up to gen ll lower unit that was originally on the boat?

I don't know what you had, but you are not going to be able to put Gen I and Gen II drive parts together, It just ain't gonna work. Way too many things different to even make that possible.

Don is right they are too different to actually be installed on your boat.
So you either didn't have a Gen II to begin with, or the one they gave you is a Gen II and you don't realize it.
