Upper gear noise when turning left or right, volvo penta sx-m

Hello everyone, I need help. I have a 2000 Glastron with a volvo penta 3.0l, outdrive is a sx-m 1.97 gear ratio. I just installed a new gimbal bearing and new ujoints. When I turn the outdrive left or right it makes a upper gear noise, my thoughts were "change the gimbal and ujoints" did it and it makes the same noise..... the harder I turn the more noise it makes,, no noise when it is straight... any help would be appreciated......... thank you Scott.
