upper gear housing

This might me the wrong place for this, but I'm not sure where else to post it. I'm a long time member of forums ( Cummins forum, Ram forum, and many others) so I like to support forum sponsors, as well as the good companies that actively take a role in the forums. With that said, I am looking for a rebuilt upper gear housing for my 1989 OMC cobra outdrive. Any pointers, advice, ideas thoughts are all welcome. I am also new to I/O, as I've always owned outboards. Thanks.

How bad is the damage? I would look at the SEI conversion kit. It would probably be the same cost and you would wind up with a mercury-ish drive setup instead of the OMC. I would imaging there are rebuilt or used units out there. If my drive went bad, I would seriously consider it.

Thanks for the link and info. The gears were starved for lubrication and are toast. I've found a few

Oops posted too soon by accident. I've found a few replacements but they are about $1600.

I ended up picking up a refreshed upper gear unit for a bit under $600. I'm putting it in next week so hopefully all goes well. I'm replacing the bellows and gimbal bearing while in there.
