Earlier this year I replaced my u-joint bellows, gimbal bearing, shift cable and bellows, and prop shaft seals. Water was getting in my oil. I took the boat out one time and it ran like a sewing machine. A week later I was bored around the house and decided to pull the out drive to see how things looked. I found about a half quart of milky oil and water all in the u-joint bellows. When I drained the drive, the oil looked as new as it did when I pumped it in. I'm confused! How did water get in the boot and mix with oil? I'm thinking my u-joint bellows isn't sealed up. What about my front upper drive seal? I hear about some shift shaft bushing can let water in also, I have looked at that and don't see how if thats bad water can get in. Thanks.

I would check to see if you are getting water inside the boat. It can then find its way through the gimble bearing into the u-joint bellows. Also make sure all the gaskets and seals in the mounting kit are good and in place. Double check your u-joint bellows where the clamps are.
