Upper Bearing, This normal?

So i've been having a random clatter sound coming from my outdrive lately. Thinking it might be my ujoint bearings going out, I pulled the drive to inspect.

The ujoints appear ok, no play,etc. However, I noticed the upper bearing seems a little wobbly (see video) and with further inspection it looks like the main gear below it might be hitting the inside wall of the drive (maybe a result of the upper bearing wobbling)?

That upper bearing fits into a tapered race in the cover.
You can't test it like you are.

Is your gimbal bearing ok?
Any rust on your ujoints?

Ayuh,...... Tapered roller bearin's are like that, til ya add the other 1/2 of the bearin', 'n preload,....

Then they tighten right up,....

gimbal bearing is ok. spins smoothly and not grainy.

and my ujoints feel ok. they're isn't any plate when i move them around. but maybe under load they do?

so this video here is not my drive, but i was having the exact same sound from 0:05 to 0:15 second mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxIQYnmouGo
except the sound would happen randomly. kinda like a marble in a blender sound. then it would go away, then come back again.
