Anyone know of a good upholstery shop north of Philly in Bucks Co. area? Just put my knee through a seam on the sun pad of the boat we just bought while trying to fix the cover!! GRRRRR!!!:mad::mad:

Pro tip, stitching is really fragile when it's freezing cold out there!

Note: The stitching in many Four Winns boats of that vintage deteriorates prematurely. Had it happen on our 2000 FW after only 3 years.

If the upholsterer uses good quality thread that will help. You can use a trick that I use to help preserve the thread from the chemicals used in cleaning the seats. Use Lip balm to coat the seams of the seats. It has Bees wax in it and if you take the time to go over each of the seams with it and rub it in, it will help coat the thread and preserve it from the harmful bleach and chemicals in the cleaners.

It IS kinda a PITA but it does work!!!;)

The upholsterer should be using a polyester thread which is UV resistant.

Since there is thread that is above and below the seam, kinda hard to coat all of it.
