Upgrading OS on a laptop?

I have a Toshiba laptop with a 337 MHZ PII MMX with a 192 mb of ram, running Windows 98. My wife uses it at her kitchen desk. For her birthday I just bought her an MP3 player/recorder and it says you need Windows 98SE.

Can I upgrade the OS from your typical Win 98SE upgrade CD or should I look for something specific to laptops?

Triggr is right, there is virtually no difference whatsoever between the fully updated W98 and SE. Could be updated by CD if necessary, though. Or from W95 to SE.

Mellow, I've made friends with 98, but we've had lots of fights, too. IMHO, w2k is an entirely different animal and is not close to w98 in any way. Mostly for the better, of course. XP much better yet. (MAN! I can't believe I actually said something nice about M$ in public!)

They have to throw something in that makes you think you are getting something for your money!
But you can revert all of the desktop appearances back to 'classic windows' style.

I partitioned my harddrive and added XP. I just wanted to see if there was any difference. OH YEAH.. much better than 98SE. But I kept my 98 partition so I can still run all of my programs without worrying about compatability with XP.

I'v been running XP on 2 computers at home for a couple of years, one is a laptop. Every program I had was compatible except for an old OpticPro flatbed scanner. XP is great when installing new hardware. Personally, I would never go back. :)
