Upgrading Ignition in Volvo Motor. Options?

So my new old boat died on the water yesterday. It's a Bayliner with a Volvo AQ125a in it. I checked and there's no spark at the plugs, so the problem is either in the coil or the distributor. I hate fiddling with points so I'd like to upgrade to something better. What are my options? How would you proceed if it was yours?

good start, new plugs, low resistance plug wires too. BUT, try to diagnose why no spark first. hate to see all that work for not if there is still uknown issue.

Like Maxman said, the conversion kit is a good idea but won't magically fix the base problem. Check your connections and voltages from the the coil on back through the wiring harness. You're not the only one who's had the problem so luckily it's discussed in quite a few threads.

On mine, I found a corroded connector in the wiring harness that was the culprit.
