Hello I have a b100 honda od late 70s vintage. I have used the engine as a trolling motor on my whaler since 1990. I purchased the motor 2nd hand and have used it every summer since then. I have maintained and done repairs on it myself. It has the magneto/ points ignition and I am considering updating it to the cdi ignition of the 1980s engine. From all appearances it looks doable as the engines seem identical in all respects aside from the ignition and the coil even appears superficially identical. Im wondering if anybody on the forum is familiar enough with these motors to advise me if this is possible or if there is/are some insurmountable issues. Thanks Ps I am considering this because the motor is in overall excellent condition and I see no advantage in buying a newer model.
