I have not had a lot of time to investigate. But who am I kidding...when it comes to electricals I am a newb to the max.
Basically when I turn the key there is no juice anywhere. Blower not coming on, no accessories, etc. My trim motor is getting juice, at least, trim down and trailer is, trim up is not engaging.

I have the # 25 manual (thanks Don S), therefore I am going to try to do some limited troubleshooting.

Any and all ideas are welcome. If there is anything I could take a picture of that would help the cause. Let me know. I know on iboats we like the pics!!

thanks in advance,

Conway

Here are the pics of ignition and other electrical. If someone could point me in the right direction of whats, what...that would be much appreciated. As previously stated. engine not turning over, not clicking, nada. Trim motor does have power.

#2--Black thingy attached to ignition, was not hooked up by purple wire...electric taped all over it.

#3--Separated purple wire from black thingy.

#5--Starter...I think

Any help would be much appreciated. I am trying to learn as much as I can. I have been through the manual, but I'm stumped.

Thanks in Advance!!!

Look on your starter, there may be a square fuse that looks like this.

If it's blown, you can loose power to everything. There should also be a smaller red circuit breaker on the engine.

Don, Thanks bro. I will dig into it tomorrow. I hope it's something that simple. My goal in 09 is to troubleshoot and fix what I can, so I can spend my $$ on upgrades for the boat. I am getting my upholstery done as we speak. Look for before and afters soo:Dn!!

You really need to have a digitalmultimeter and know how to use it if your going to do any kind of troubleshooting. Not trying to be a wise guy here but you may want to try your library and take out some books on DC electricity.

Ahh no wise guys on iboats:) I was just hoping for someone to hopefully label and help me see what im looking at. I can use the digital multimeter with pops but once I find the glitch I want to know what to replace.

start with your main fuse and work your way to the breaker, then up to the panel.

Did mercruiser have the "bat wing" manifolds? and is that an aluminum oil pan?

Ayuh,... Yes to both BD...

I'm not sure of the vintages,.. The manifolds are a 1/2" different diameter outlet than the OMCs...
And they're of No better quality either...

In the picture below, check to see if you have voltage at the terminal on the fuse shown by the yellow arrow. Hard to see in the picture, but there should be a red or red/purple wire attached to that terminal.

Captain we have lift off!!

Also a good lesson learned. I admitted I was a newb when it came to anything electrical.
I went out and got a cheap multimeter at radioshack. started at the ignition and worked my way all the back to the starter on the engine. Long story short....I didn't have the engine ground wire connected. It was hiding in the engine, I must have tucked it out of the way during winterization. I had the ground from the trim motor connected and completly overlooked it. I wasn't even a little angry at myself. That little mistake forced me to study my manual, ask questions, and basically identify all the working parts of my electrical. I even identified what the black thingy was:eek::eek:. It was the the temp hot, oil pressure low...alarm. It works now:):)

So lesson learned and hopefully in a few years when someone else as new, and determined as myself will have this same issue...I can lend some experience.

Thanks to everyone who commented with help. I sincerely appreciate it.

oh yeah, the engine fired right up and purred like a kitten.

thanks again,

Conway

And that black "Thingy" with the purple wire is most likely the warning buzzer. I cant remember which terminal it goes to but I think its the Run side of the ignition, the other side shoudl go to oil pressure and water temp.
