Up coming Bass trip!

Man, I can`t wiat!

About a month ago I had a call from an old fishing friend from the town I grew up in. We had kept in touch over the years but hadn`t been able to actually fish together. He had mentioned that he was going to Clear Lake California from the 30th of this month through the 5th of October. I emailed him back and flipantly said. "I want to go"! I was basically kidding but there was some truth in the statement. He Emailed me back and said if I could get the time off that I was welcome. We will be sharing expenses and should be a great time. It`s about a 8-9 hour drive down there. I have the greatest wife in the world, she said it would be great for me to go as I havn`t done anything like this for the 22 years we have been maried. She is going to spend some time with her best friend and her mother.

He has fished this lake a lot over the years, so it`s gonna be like a five day guided trip but I`ll take my own gear. He has a pretty new Ranger. This is my chance to catch a Bass of a lifetime.

what in the world are those? they look like something from an alien sci-fi movie, especially the black/blue with smoke tail. It would probably make a good flipping bait. Can't say I'm too jealous of you, I will get to see Roger Waters doing Dark Side Of The Moon in it entirety on the 30th. :/

I use some of the weirdest baits you can imagine, I have posted about the one on the right before. They are all around 4" and are hand pours.

I just found a 7" Centipead power bait made by Berkley for saltwater that looks to have a promising future in the bass world.

I use to have something about like those by a company called screamers i think they were a milipede caught some fish on them until i ran out and was never ableto find them again.
are the baits above supose to be in the golby line there now making?

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas, It`s just a little over a day ans a half and we will be on our way. Weather looks like it will be stellar with no storms in site. Temperature is slowly cooling and the bite should be on.

The best thing is you don't have to haul your boat that distance. Good luck on the fishing and the catching up.

ya, there is some truth to that, but I still have to ride with him that far. It will be about 8-9 hours down. Weather seems to be on our side, should just be a normal fall pattern. Suppose to be cloudy to partly cloudy with "0" chance of precip! Low`s in the high 40`s to low 50`s and high`s in the mid to hi 70`s to low 80`s.

I`m taking the Miss`s on a date tonight and then it`s off at about 2:00AM in the morning.

Man what a blast, fishing was actually spotty but we managed about 100 quality Bass in the five days, more later.

Bad picture of me, but a great Bass. My friends scales said only 5#`s 2 oz. but it was bigger than that.

Hmmmm, either you have an identical twin, or we've met before, just can't quite put my finger on it.

Nice fish, was that the biggest or average?

Nice fish,does look bigger than 5lbs just by the picture looks closer to 6 and half.you catch that hollerhead on a drop shot?

I actually caught it on a brown 3/8 oz jig off of a dock, but I did catch three about 3 1/2 #`s on a dropshot in about 30' of water off a point with the bait on the left in the above picture.

We sat off of a willow point on Wednesday afternoon for about 2 1/2 hours and watched a feeding frenzy like I have never seen before. The Bass were chasing shad and having a ball. The water would explode while about ten fish at a time would attack the shad. Sometimes there would be a fish do a complete summersault out of the water. We don`t have shad here in oregon so I had never seen anything like it. We caught about 30 fish durring that time.

Man thats fun there, i keep a rod rigged up just for that in the fall.alot times you can follow them.

Nice fish LD, You got to love those big hogs pulling out that braided line. No sound like it on earth 8)

I have seen the stripers here go nuts on the shad. The stripers will ball up the shad chase them to the top and then slam living hell out of them. Never saw LM go at em like that,, that must of been exciting!

Did you use a top water during the frenzy.?

Sounds like a very successful trip
