The motor is a 8 hp Suzuki spirit. The carb is clean and fuel is getting to the bowl. There is a good spark from the plugs. The engine will turn over with starter fluid, but won't idle. I went through everything in the manual. I am pretty sure no gas is getting to the cylinder. I am not sure how to check cylinder compression.

Well, first of all....if it's a 2 cycle motor...DON'T USE NORMAL STARTING FLUID. It has no oil in it. If you use anything use something like WD-40.

Have you rebuilt the carbs? Could be bad diaphragm.

Good luck!!

The carb is completely operational. It has a bowl on the bottom for the gas. All the lines are clean.

It doesn't sound like your getting your gas from your bowls to the cylinder. In other words, through the carb. That's the only thing in the way. I'm no expert, but that's what I think. I just took my carbs off last night to go through them.

Took apart the carb and it is very clean, but it still won't turn over. What else is there?

The carb could look spotless, and still have a plugged jet of piece of crud in a passage. If the carb has been soaked overnight in solvent, and blown out with compressed air it should pass fuel. If there is fuel in the bowl, it has to be a clogged jet or carb orifice.

The Carb oraface is clean. I am 99% positive it is not the carb. Everthing checks out on it. I can sray carb cleaner through the orafce.

Take some premixed 50:1 fuel & oil and spray a little into the intake of the carb and see if the engine will run. If it does clean and soak carb.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to do a compression check on it. Have you checked the diaphragm in the carb? Just this last weekend I took my carbs off and went through them to find out that I had 2 of my 3 needles stuck closed. After a good cleaning, the motor runs great. I would say check compression, are your plugs even getting wet with fuel?

Re: Up a creek

Everything you have described points to a clogged jet(s) on the carb. You wouldn't be the first to have missed the crud on your 1st attempt to clean the carb. Its not a beauty contest, carbs that look clean don't mean anything its whether or not they meter fuel and air correctly. Yours isn't. Take it off and disassemble it again and remove the main jet and idle mixture needles and float valve. Pay particular attention to the jet orifices, remove the non-metallic parts, soak overnite and blow them out with compressed air and install a rebuild kit with all new parts. Then tell us what happens.
