Just bought a 1993 Wellcraft ski boat with a 1992 volvo penta 230a in it. I bought it without hearing it run (I know that is a bad mistake) and the guy I bought it from told me he had a machanic winterize it in the fall. I brought it home and after some work (tune up, changed the oil, swapped out the prop) I fired it up. The temperature gauge is reading around 200-210 I have the foot submerged in a tub of fresh water. Am I missing something? Do I need to open a valve or something to allow the water in. I took the cap of of the cooling system and as it was being turned over with the starter the water was circulating.
