Hi,

I bought two Mariner 55s recently and have now setup the engines. However, there is a rubber hose on the back of the engines and I was wondering what this is for? The hose rises from just above the anti cavitation plate and is about 8-10 inches long. It has a metal end with a screw plug in it. This metal end is formed to obviously allow some other hose to be fitted over it and be held in place. I wondered what this hose is for. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks,

Jonathan

These are built in speedometer sending units. Keeps you from having to attach one to the transom. Use them or not, your choice.
