Hello JB.
You caught a beautiful little piece of art history there.
This type of decoration was very popular in pre- revolutionary Russia. The scales would be made of precious metal and eyes were small diamonds.
If you ever have a chance to go to the Hermitage in St.Petersburg. You can feast your eyes on many beautiful examples of this type of decoration.

JB,

Both my mother and sister have a necklace that looks very close to that.

Valentines day is coming up - think your wife would like it? ;)

My former wife was with me when I found that, JSFinn.

There were two of them in the case. She bought one with a small gold chain. I bought the other because it reminded me of our Boardpal, LadyFish's signature.
