comments. Thinking about under-skinning my pontoon. Standard practise material is .065 marine grade (whats the difference) aluminum sheets. I've stumbled across alumicore panels. Available in 3mm, 5mm, 10 mm. It sure appears that a 3mm alumicore sheet would be superior to a .065 sheet. Easier for a one man job, less susceptible to "stretching" from wave pounding. Never seen a thread on here from pontooners , so , curious.

I say "go for it " this is how you GAIN experience , get some mates to help out ... (ones your wife doesnt like😄 ) , keg of beer , box of pop rivets , What could go wrong :LOL:

3mm (1/8") is overkill. 1mm is all that's needed. 16 gauge (1.5mm) is same as the fence panels.

FWIW; I have never heard of them bending from the water hitting them. I haven't done mine yet, but the local place I can buy sheets will cut and bend to spec.
