Hi all.
I want to replace the gasket between my intake/exhaust manifold and engine because i notice that it leaks a little bit. In order to do that, i need to remove the exhaust raiser. However, i am not able to remove it from the manifold. I feel that the raiser and the manifold are "welded" together. I removed the two screws on the raiser. kicked it very hard but no success. are these the only two screws that i need to remove? do i miss anything? the raiser is very similar to this: https://www.westmarine.com/sierra-1...94l9lk5mvMh4Q0VPHEzR3uliGDt2IIIcaAplOEALw_wcB

what are you working on?

usually there are 4 bolts holding on the elbow.

With my Mercruiser 3.0 there were only 2 bolts. The gasket felt like it was welded on but its not. Just over the years with heat up and cool down it must do something to the gasket. I used heat and a heavy rubber mallet. it will come apart. I ended up taking the manifold of the engine with the elbow so i could get a better swing with the mallet.

i had a head stuck on a sb 350, had to stick a couple of pry bars in the ports , even then i struggled to get that head to budge for fear of cracking the casting i switched from exhaust to inlet evenly forcing it up to release the bond ..
if its anything like that , , try warming it with a propane torch around the join and kicking it from different directions " ninja kicks :)" .

some additional information: yeah, my engine is Mercruiser 3.0. Here are some photos of the raiser. I just want to make sure that there is not any hidden screw that i am not aware of.

I also thought about that. However, the elbow blocks one of the screw on the manifold. do you also have that issue? if yes, how did you go around it?

If I remember correctly. We took all of the bolts out that we could get to out. Then we backed out the blocked bolt and pulled the manifold out as we unscrewed the bolt. it will make it easier if you can remove the rubber sleeve from the elbow and have a second set of hands.

I freed mine up with a rubber mallet, it will come off eventually. I have the same riser setup on my engine as you. While your in there check your water flapper.
