I have 2 Merc 165HP inline six's, neither will suck oil from the dipstick tube. On my prior bayliner I slipped the hose over the dipstick tube and sucked the oil out. I assume I need a tiny tube to go inside where the dipstick would go.

I cannot get at the bottom of the oil pan, its is simply crammed in there too tight.

Also my prior 120HP had the same issue, but the owner insalled a ball valve on the bottom of the pan with a hose that would go out the transom drain.

Tube needs to go inside the dipstick tube. Most oil pans have a baffle inside them so you have to move the hose around a bit while pumping.

My hand pump seals went after 2 uses (2 seasons for me). I had to hold my thumb over the outlet hose for one stroke and take it off for pumping in the other direction (used my hand as the one way valve). This sucked but I didn't feel like running to the store. Took me 45 minutes to pump out the oil and left me with a sore thumb. Maybe your pump is the problem?

I was hoping, but I tried it in a pan of old oil. Worked fine......

most likely if the tube is missing the threaded fitting, the dip tubes do not go to the bottom of the pan

a large home improvement store with an orange sign out front will have tubing that will fit

just bought 25 ft of it for the shop a few months ago

its in the plumping section, and is sometimes called refrigerator water line
