My repair manual for my Johnson 150 that I keep onboard soaked up water over a period of time and the pages are glued together, especially the fold-out color schematics. Those that I tried to separate are ruined.

Is there some procedure that I could use to save this book?

Try using steam from a kettle to loosen the page you want to view ,then seperate and let it air dry,it's going to be a long and painfull process

I have used a steam iron to unstick pages. It flattens out any wrinkles, too. :)

I never thought of steam. Thanks for the suggestions, I certainly will try that.

How would wax paper between separated pages work instead of Talc? Would stil need to let it air dry, but I'm envisioning more thorough coverage with the wax paper (can't miss any spots) and avoiding a sticky gooey mess. Maybe talc wouldn't be too bad after it dries...

btw, if you've got some mold on otherwise dry book/ pages, I've had success with spraying with a lysol type disinfectant and immediately wiping it off (pages weren't stuck together to start, though).

Re: Un-sticking repair manual pages

Up-date
Tried the steam iron, got some success but lost the war. I was able to open 1 fold-out schematic but I did tear a hole in a blank section. Another fold out woulden't budge. The color ink on that section worked better than Elmers Carpenter Glue. I tried soaking the page in water but the paper desintegrated. Pages that were printed without color ink had no problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep on boating.
Nick
