Ok i feel stupid posting this but while we were taking off the lower part of my alpha one we had to use a mallet and broke a piece of the fin above the prop off (missed a bolt). My question is whats gonna happen when we put it back in the water and what will that affect, i don't know what the fin is actually called but its where u'd bolt a whale tail to. is this going to affect my steering or how it planes? Can i put one of those tails over it or even just jb weld it back on, thanks

Ayuh,.... You could get it welded back on,... I doubt JB weld will hold, 'n addin' a whaletail will make it worse...

It's called the anti-cavatation plate...

The prop will have more of a tendency to ventilate without it...

Re: Uh oh

I did the same thing with my outdrive and have been running it all summer with no problems. I would have it welded back on not jb welded because if you loose the piece its gone forever. I still have my piece and when I remove the outdrive again I will have it welded back on just because I don't like to run broken things.

Re: Uh oh

Even if you lose the piece they can still fix it. It is relatively inexpensive to fix. Run it till the off season then get it fixed over winter. Be sure to winterize before taking to weld shop in case it gets cold while its there.
