My ugly stick broke. The top eye comes out of the socket. I have tried JB Weld, solder and a pliers to re crimp and cant keep the eyelet in the socket. I have had this rod for 15 years and it is my favorite. I bought a new one to replace it and they are different now. The new ones have way too much whip in them. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Somebody, I won't mention names (LF) broke the end off one of our rods last year. I went to Academy and bought a little kit for about $5 and replaced the whole eyelet. It was easy and other than it being a couple of inches shorter than it used to be the rod works fine.

Thanks for the reply. I will see if I can find one of those kits at gander mountian. Hate loosing that pole. The thing only cost 30 bucks but I have caught a lot of fish with it. I will not tell lady fish what you said. Your secret is safe with me.

You can take the rod in to Gander Mtn, and they will replace the tip top for you.

Fleet Farm has the replacement tip kits.

By the way, all the guides on a rod are epoxied in place, except for the tiptop. It is usually held in place by hot glue. It can also be removed by reheating it.

I go by fleet farm on my way home from work. I will check with them. My wife hates it when I go there. Lots of fun things to buy. Thanks Roscoe

I bought this glue called: Bondini X3. Its on the order of super glue it will will work even on oily surffaces. Tube says, Bondini is a registered trade mark of pro tel inc, pacer technology. This stuff works better than super glue if you can find it try it I bet it will work.
