I have recently aquired my first o/b. - 1986 (approx). Evinrude (or omc, it has a new cover) - 4hp - 2 cylinder - 2 cycle. originally a saddle tank, now remote. Model no: BE4RCUD. could be an 'excel'? It runs great, but my local repairer tells me this model is prone to seizure, although due to its age, I assume it would have done so by now, if its going to. all info and advice appreciated, thanks in anticipation --- Al, (England).

Model number says it is a 4 hp 1987 Belgium variation Evinrude.
Never heard of any model motor being prone to seizing if it was assembled and maintained correctly.

Hello, A4Al

Your engine is an evolution of one of the greatest outboards ever built. I have had two of the earlier 3hp version and found them flawless over many years of operation.

Invest in an Owners Manual and a factory Service Manual, care for it properly and it should outlive you.

Good luck. :)

I'll go with rolmop on that. I saved 50% on a powerpack.
