i have badly dry rotted tires on my trailer. boat repairs have taken there toll on my wallet, so im looking for a cheap way out. i got ahold of the local tire shop and they said the could sell me tires for 80 each. i was looking at walmart, and i can get a tire for $41, but its a regular auto tire. i have 6.80 x 13 tires. tire shop said they are translated to 175/80/13. the tires at wallyworld are 175/75/13 if im thinking right. would this work? is there a big diffrence in trailer tires to car tires? this is my first boat/trailer, and any info is appreciated!

also, my rims are 4 lug, and i can not find a 4 lug 13inch tire with rim anywhere around here, thats why i was planning on just getting tires themselves.

Re: type of tires

Well, the two biggest differences between automotive and trailer tires is:

1: Trailer tires are usually rated to carry more weight per given tire size than automotive tires
2: Trailer tires are specifically designed with stiffer sidewalls and tread patterns to help the trailer track straight and minimize fishtailing while towing.

Ultimately the choice is yours, but remember those tires are the only thing keeping your nice boat and trailer off the asphalt.

I have 13" tires on my trailer as well, and the last time I checked, Walmart had 175/80-13 tires for $51/per in bias and $61/per in radials.

Trailer tires generally have a bigger weight rating than the car type equivalent. You need to check that out before a decision is made either way. I would however strongly recommend using trailer tires for the reasons given above by Gpayne.
