Two Boat ramp pics I had to share

I just posted these in a different thread but felt they deserved their own.

First guy: You'll notice he has no trailer, he left it parked in his spot, I'm assuming to save the spot for when he got his 1981 tiger shark started. Well surprise surprise it didn't start and he had to go back and get his trailer and get back in line. All well the girlfriend sat there holding their paperweight trying to dodge the boats that were launching. He actually sat there and cranked on that ski until it wouldn't crank anymore, luckily he didn't kill the battery in his truck.

2nd pic: I don't know what the heck was going on here. The only thing I can guess is that he didn't know how to back up a trailer so he tried this route. Surprisingly they were able to walk the boat down that steep incline without loosing it. What you can't see here is that one guy had a cig dangling out of his mouth and there were about 5 other people watching and taking pictures. This was the launch, I would have loved to see how they got it loaded and back up that incline.

my comment on pic 1 is, there's nothing like having a tuned up vessel, prior to launching. +, i know it's done, but jumping a boat scares me. sparks in the bilge from connecting the cables etc ya know.
second pic, i'll cut them some slack. i've been in that situation.
my situation occurred on a sun. july third at nebraskas biggest lake. the ramp and beach were packed. boat after boat lined up on the beach partying. anyways, my ford van fuel pump went out after i launched. i had 4 children (only 1 was mine) with me alone. ages 10-14. after i couldn't start my van, me and the 4 kids walked the trailer down the ramp and loaded up the ski (good thing it wasn't a boat, i'd have never got away with what i did)then pushed it back up to hook up to the van. long story short. that 1 day outing turned into 3 days and a $1000 dollars later (food, hotels, tow off the lake back to town and van repair etc) i was back to being where i started at.... one of my more memorable snafus while boating. i personally didn't consider what happened a sht. just bad luck my fuel pump went out at that perticular time. it was out of my control and nothing that i could have done to prevent it from happening..

Yeesh - standing in the water holding jumper cables isn't my idea of a good time.

He'll never get that ski started. Jumping a ski with car battery is one thing, but with the engine running it fries the electrical boxes.

Re: Two Boat ramp pics I had to share

As in, two half-wits make a whole?

Hmmm....

If you find a pix of a FULL WIT, I'd love to see one.....

I kind of think it's a diminishing return, perhaps even an inverse square kinda thing:

A 1/2 Wit and a 1/2 Wit = less then a 1/4 Wit

Sorry no pix & I do not plan to show my work or post the theorem that was used

Suffice to say, I'm in West 'by god' Virginia.....

completely safe though... You can grab hold of those cables and nothing would happen.

Tell that to the guy in MN who died about a month ago trying to jump start a boat in the water.

I'd like see more info on that. You can't die from 12 volts. Did he try it with a 120 volt powered charger/booster?

Re: Two Boat ramp pics I had to share

charging and jumping are two different things. But still, I wouldn't want either going on while I'm in water.
