Engine Merc. 305 I/O
I have two batteries hooked up to a selector switch. I will generally run on battery #1 on one day then switch to battery #2 next time out. Battery #1 went dead. If I run the engine with "Both" selected so that boat will start will both batteries charge? The selector says" do not switch while engine is on. Just want to make sure dead battery is getting a chagre from alternator.
Any comments?
Thanks

Re: Two Batteries

If the switch is wired correctly, the BOTH position will allow charging both batteries. When you are anchored however, switch to one or the other to prevent both batteries from going dead. Switch to the other battery when you are ready to start the engine again. Your switch is apparently NOT a make-before-break design so do as labeled -- don't switch it with the engine running.
