Story time! This one is true, which is not my usual inclination. How many of us have caught two bass on one lure, one cast? My wife--tough, ingenious, gorgeous gal that she is--did it one October morning not too long ago. First she said she had on a big bass. Next it seemed to be in the waterweeds. Next it felt like a log. I netted the catch; she says, "What the heck is that?" I say, "I sure love fishing with a woman that doesn't mess around."<br />Sure enough, it was a matched pair of 16"-ers. Obviously, bass being the hungry and mysterious critters they are, the second had tried to take the Rapala away from the first.<br /><br />--------------<br />"Take a kid fishing today"--maybe you'll learn something.

Its quite common on crankbait type lures, Ive done it several times. I caught a catfish and a bass on a texas rigged plastic worm last year, the bass in the mouth, and snagged the catfish in the belly. I too thought that I had a big one.

It's not unusual for schooling-type fish like white bass during a feeding frenzy...get one close to the surface you can usually see two or three others chasing it trying to steal the bait...almost like seagulls with a bit of bagel. Never saw basses doin that though.<br /><br />BF's one-hook double...now that's gonna require some 'splainin!

I've caught Walleye several times that had a Northern trying to eat it while being reeled in and landed them both. I have never caught fish lip to lip on the same lure. I'm impressed!

When flyfishing with poppers I usually trail a wet fly a foot or so behind the popper.<br /><br />I have doubled many times.<br /><br />Only once have I caught two fish on a single lure, a Rapala. Both small bass.

Elkhart. Less than an hour from Wawasee and Patoka.<br />I'm just old enough to have encrusted a few barnacles along the way.

Crusty Dude: I am also impressed by your yarn. It's a good demonstration that pike are not inclined to yield whatever they have in their mouths. Here's one: Off the Pensacola Beach Pier, I once caught a nice King Mackerel that was printed all over with newsprint. A few of the words were legible. There was no newspaper around, so I have no idea where the fish picked it up. I thought for a moment the Kings were coming pre-wrapped these days. Less unusual was one I caught with a hole clear through its upper body. The wound was completely healed with new skin inside the gap, leaving the hole as it was. Fishin' is just one surprise after another, huh?<br />--------------------<br />Kiss 'em and release 'em.

jtexas: A white bass rally, or, in the Gulf, a bluefish convention--those are awesome events. You don't want to fall out of the boat. <br /><br />----------------<br />Tip of the day: Putting your thumb in the mouth of a bass is one thing. Don't try it with a bowfin, pike, gar, catfish, or ANYTHING that swims in salt water. I did it with a flounder once.<br />-- 9 Fingers Rick

Down at the beach we all use these double hook rigs. It constists of a 2 oz. weight and 2 hooks on a steel leader. On the pier at Tybee island someone cought a bonnethead shark on one hook ond a 8 in. whiting on the other. To land the shark they have to drop a crabnet on a long line into the ocean. Then manuever the shark into that net. Well the shark didn't want to go into the net. every time it flipped or rolled the fish was flung to and fro. when in the net being brough up the shark kept flipping the whiting out. Then in. Then out the other side. when on the pier they tried to get the whiting off the hook but the shark kept snatching it away. When they got it loose many pics were taken and the guy tool the shark home to be mounted.

Crankin smallies out of the sait joseph river in niles michigan has yeilded this phenom for me several times. Smallies on the feed are very aggresive, and will try and steal each others food. several times using stick baits ive hit 2 smallies of similar size on the same bait same cast....in the river current its quite fun!
