Johnny,

Should work just fine. Worst case you may need a small adapter for the wiring harness but all should work.

Tell me, what kind of performance do you get out of the 22' Outrage with twin 70's?

I just bought a 22' Outrage(also '88) with Whaler Drive and 250hp Yamaha ('97).

Thank you,

John

Re: twin 70 yamaha's

John, Thanks for the reply. With twin 70's Iv'e clocked it at exactly 40mph, 5400rpm's and with 5 adults on board she runs at 5300rpm's 38mph. The twin's give me that extra punch when I have to ride or (horse) my way thru the inlet (Sabastian inlet FL) which is a tough inlet even in good weather. I can't say enough about the boat, she just does everything you ask it to do and the motors are indestructable. Oddly enough, Iv'e check all of the website's looking for a used 70 yamaha, and Iv'e yet to find one. I usually run the motors at 4700=4800 and they'll run all day long at around 34mph (2.5 mpg) and it seems as thought, the harder I push them, the better the mileage, (if you can belive that) it just doesn't make any sense. If I can help you with anything else, email me at JohnnyVero@aol.com or on this net. P.S. Thanks for the comeback./....Johnny

John, How does your's 22 perform with the 250? and what do you mean by Whaler Drive? Also do you have a t-top and what type of electronic's? and last of all, what do you figure the value of yours is, their aren't too many around for sale. I paid $8.500 and added the custom t=top for $2.000 plus electronic's totaling about $12.000. Condition is rated as excellent, and the only way I would sell it, is if I bought another whaler. Do you fish Orient Point, I used to love fishing there.

Re: twin 70 yamaha's

Johnny,

I just got the boat and only test drove it once. It clearly needs some Prop adjusting in my opinion. I'm about to put a post here looking for Prop help.

Anyway, it ran in the mid'40's with Tee Top and Front Tee Top enclosure which gives tons of drag. (as does the Tee top). The Whaler drive slows things down too due to extra weight and wettable surface.

I got to WOT only briefly and noticed that with current prop 14 7/8" x 21" I was really only getting 4900RPM's Max. When I trimmed her out she would porpoise.

Thinking about another Prop probably 19" pitch.

These boats are rare. It has the Tee Top, Leaning Post, Super Console, and Whaler drive, all the options I was looking for for a long long time. With Radar, Trailer etc etc I paid $20K. Motor is a '97 is Great shape and the Hull an '88.

Let me know what you think.

John
