Twin, 150 Johnsons, trolling with 1 engine?

My question has to do with twin outboards, and trolling (6-8mph) with one engine.(alternating engines every hour) Can damage occur to the other outboard? I've heard water can be forced up the exhaust and into the motor...I would like to troll using 1 motor at a time to conserve fuel...Any advice, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated. Thank, Homey.

Hi, Homey.

You heard wrong. At trolling speed you aren't going to "force water up the exhaust", even if you leave the engine tilted down.

Trolling on one of twins is a very common practice.

Good luck. :)
