Re: Twin 115 Evinrudes
Hi Chemist Bill,
The last of the hydro-electrics,but still good engines if they were taken care of properly. Check the compression on all cyls. they shouldn't vary more than 15# on an engine. Check for spark on all cyls. should jump 3/8" to 1/2" depending on the condition of the battery. Check the lower gearcase oil on each engine,it shouldn't be cloudy or milky looking. Next take it for a run. Check for shifting; then run them hard for about 15 mins. to see if they get hot. Oh by the way on each engine head there is a heat sending unit they will have a tan lead connecting them, disconnect it and ground the lead it was hooked to with the key switch in the on position this should cause the hot horn to sound off. Do this before you take it for a run. If ever thing checks to this point I think that you should have a pretty good setup.
Hope this helps
