Hi everybody.
1995 5.7 EFI alpha.
All I get is a click when trying to start.
It eventually turns over and starts right up after a few minutes of trying, including wiggling the shifter and kill switch.
It seems to catch when it feels like it and I'm afraid that next time, it just isn't going to feel like it!
Thanks,
Bill

Could be loose/corroded wiring connections, bad starter solenoid or even a bad slave solenoid.
Time to get a test light or meter and find where the power fails to get to the starter.

Re: Turn the key - get a click

Thank you, Don.
I am not a mechanic, that's for sure, but I do have a meter and would like to troubleshoot.
Can you give me a little more detail on how to perform the tests?
Where should the feelers be positioned, and do I have to have someone turn the key to start while I'm testing these things?
Bill

This should be the correct wiring diagram.
I had same problem - it was the starter relay.
Located next to the primary starter solinoid.

You may have the Throttle body injecter -
that diagram is on same page

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Techbk/95/95HGD4.PDF

Thanks a lot Don and Elpaso.
I'm waiting for Don's reference file to download (dial up) and will try my best to check the wiring.
Bill
