Sound like a ground problem. Try Bondo's fool proof method for ruling it out:

Take a set of Booster Cables, Hook one ends to your truck frame.... Hook the other ends to your Trailer Frame.... Wiggle,+ Shake them to be Sure you've Got Bare Metal......
NOW You Have a Good Ground......

If that fixes your problem you know the ground on the trailer or truck is not good enough.

Re: turn singals

You may need to buy a different "flasher" relay.
On some vehicles the turn signal and emergency flasher relays have the same style sockets.
If so, you can switch the relays. If this solves the problem, just buy another emergency flasher relay to use for the turning signals.

Re: turn singals

Don't put a bigger fuse in, that will allow the circuit to be overloaded. If the fuse was too small, it would have blown due to too much current going thru it.

You need a heavy duty flasher relay. They are only $2. Unplug the old one, plug in the new one. Done.
