I have rewired my trailer, everything works great with my Crown Victoria. When I connect to my S10 Blazer the turn signal flash rate doubles like there is a ground problem. The flash rate is ok when using a test probe on the blazer's connector. I have connected a trailer tail light to the blazer connector and the flash rate immediately doubles. Brake and running lights are fine.

During this process I also fixed the ground in the blazer which was not appearing on the connector. This had no effect.

I believe the problem is in the blazer but I do not know where to look. Any ideas?

Re: Turn Signal Flash Rate

Many times when a bulb is burned out it will make the system flash faster. For instance, If your front blinker bulb is burned out if will effect the flash rate, but not stop the rear lights from flashing. Hope this helps.

You might need a heavy duty flasher for the extra load. My truck came with 2. One for normal driving and one for the trailer. The trailer one is slower and the regular is faster.

Re: Turn Signal Flash Rate

the old style flashers used a bimetal strip to determine flash speed. If more lights were added, the speed increased. Buy yourself an HD-12 and your speed will be constant regardless of load. The new flashers are electronic, and will purposely flash faster or slower(pending on OEM) if a bulb is burnt or if more are added. This gives the driver a warning in the event of bulb failure. With an HD-12, you lose the warning feature, but the flash rate is constant.... :) You can also by a bimetal flasher designed for the addition of a trailer, but again, it won't flash if used without a trailer.....
