Turn key no power to starter

Hi everyone, I have an 89' merc 5.0 with alpha one on a Sea Sprite. Lately when I go fishing and turn off the boat it won't start back up. The starter doesn't crank when I turn the key over on the first try and sometimes it takes 3-5 turns before it cranks. It's wierd because all the gauges get power. This has been an intermitent problem since I replaced all the bellows(not sure if related). I have 2 batteries hooked up through a perko battery switch. Any help would be appreciated, it makes me nervous when I'm out with the wife and kids and it doesn't crank over on the 1st try.
