I always enjoy listening to The Band, especially in their day, and being a drummer myself Levon was my favorite member. The Last Waltz was one of those moments in time for me, when things change as The Band went into history. RIP Levon.

Read just a few days ago that he was near the end with his battle with cancer. Another talent moved on to the next world.

Still having trouble with this, not sure exactly why, they were a little before my time.

Maybe it's cause me and my big brother and grannyd went down to Tunica Mississsipi a few yrs ago and saw one of the best concerts I have ever seen. It was some original members and they played mostly The Band" songs

Maybe it's also due to JB's recent thread.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998, after umpteen radiation treatments, he got his voice back and recorded two grammy award winning albums, Dirt Farmer and Electric Dirt.

He hosted countless musicians at his "Midnight Ramblings" concerts at the historic timber frame studio in Woodstock, Ny.

He was truly special, a "real arkansas hillbilly" who made the big time and died while doing what he loved to do.

The tears are still streaming down my face I as watch a dvd of him tonight.

All of us can only hope to be as blessed as he.

It's a real shame.....one of the best drummers I have ever mixed sound for.... I had the opportunity to do a show for him and The Barn Burners some years back when he played in northern NJ......You will be missed Levon!

Will be sadly missed. Our son who is the drummer and vocalist in his own band listened to a lot of his stuff and learned a lot from what he heard.

Makes me feel a little older every time one of the old rockers goes. I do hear some decent contemporary music on FM (Montreal), but it seems to me that the current music just doesn't have the same soul. Am I just an old fart talking?
