I'm new here but have been interested in Sailing for some time now. I've been looking at a lot of used boats for sail and have been very intrigued by the Turkish Gullets that i see on most sites. However, none are in the USA. Am i missing something here? they seem to be lot of boat for the money. Does anyone have any experience with these boats? Thanx!!

Re: Turkish Gullets

The reason that you don't see them is because the American boat buyer knows very little about boats that are not American made except for the large manufactures such as Jeanneau, etc.

Gulets are not really blue water boats, they aren't very good sailors either, they are mostly made for motor sailing in calm to moderate weather. As you said they are a lot of boat for the money if you're not planning to cross oceans. You've probably noticed they generally come with big engines and they are made of wood.
