So I like many am the new owner of a broken Four Winns fling. The boat was running so I didn't test drive it HUGE MISTAKE. Two totally cooked, low compression cyclenders later. Anyway I pulled the motor for rebuild and found a rebuild kit. It actually got so hot it melted the plastic on the coils. Is that at all common? I figure oh well oh well even with the rebuild I will only have 2500 or so into a clean boat. Anyway I was looking things over after pulling the motor and I thought it would be a good time to rebuild the Jet drive provided its not too expensive. The problem is I can't seem to locate a seal and bearing kit for the Drive. I saw parts on shop2.evinrude but they seem high and don't list a rebuild kit. I just need bearings and seals to go through the drive. Can anyone tell me where to find them? I also need a good service manual. I see some on Ebay for about 70 dollars but I was hoping to find one cheaper. Any help is great. Thanks all.

Re: Sportjet drive rebuild

I too need to rebuild the Mercury Sport Jet drive unit from my Sugar Sand Mirage. I need bearing sets, and although they are available from Mercury, has anyone found other sources?

the mercury guy may have some luck, since mercury is still in business, but the turbojet people went under some time ago, any parts you can get your hands on get, also http://www.turbojetmarineproducts.com is the company that ended up with most of the turbojet stock, i actually also have a four winns fling (115), but at least knew my engine was shot when i got it, although i should be getting the block back from the shop within the week.

Re: Turbojet drive rebuild

I've just realized the 95 Four Winns Fling I recently purchased has 2 dead holes. I am now planning to rebuild the engine myself and completely service /rebuild the jet as necessary over the winter. If anyone can offer suggestions or relate their experiences it would be much appreciated.
