It's like a thing of beauty! I would expect that you would need to take it out afterwards and thoroughly test the car to make sure it is in proper running order! Please give details so that regular joes like me can live vicariously through you. :D

at one of the shops I used to work at my boss was fixing the A/c on a porsche and I was working on a 3000gt vr4. when we were done he asked if i wanted to race and i said sure but you will be paying all tickets. we didn't end up racing and good thing the following week the owner blew up the engine. was something like $35K for a new one I heard  they are nice cars as long as you dont have to pay to fix them.

They had a guy here in town that they caught going 95mph on the highway - they interviewed him on camera...turns out he is local guy that fixes porsches - the next day in the news they had the person whose porsche he was racing on the news! Turns out it was the garage owners brother and his reply was 'what am i gonna do he's my brother'<br /><br />had a friend with a real nice porsche - for some unknown reason he took it to the airport one day and used one of those valet parkers - he came back go in his car and drove 25 feet out of the lot to get gas - goes around to the other side of the car and it has a huge scrape down the side in yellow...turns out they were racing a mustang in the lot with it...they tried to claim he had "left the premises" with the vehicle and the were no longer responsible for the damage.

<br /><br />  Holt Cr*p, I have never driven a car that fast in my life. When they (PowerHaus), said it would add 100 HP to the rear wheels, I now beleive them. Un freaking beleiveable.  There is no doubt in my mind that this is easily a low 12 second car now.

Hey Lubedude, all that work and effort and all you get is a 0-60 time of 12 seconds  <br /><br />I gotta diesel that'll do 0-60 in under 9 seconds :D :D :D :D

Yes, We here on the other side of the ocean think more about 1/4 mile times, (at least I do), than a 0-60 MPH sprint. Besides, this car is doing 60 MPH :D just sitting there.

Sure looks like that would have been a lot easier if the 'boss' had bought you an electric lift L'Dude.<br /><br />Great work. Just be glad you won't be using it for a daily driver. We all couldn't afford the tickets. :D

Re: Turbo Porsche, ever wonder?

Yeah don't worry I knew what you meant all along.<br /><br />I could probably get my car to do 1/4 mile in sub 12 secsonds if the cliff was high enough :D <br /><br /><br />Just a sensible question though for a minute: what sort of protection does the turbo have around it?<br /><br />The reason I ask is that the turbo will be extremely hot when in action so what stops standing rainwater splashing onto it?<br /><br /><br />It looks blooming gorgeous though and like you say, looks like its going fast even when its sat still, although it probably drinks faster than a medical student at Happy Hour :D ;)

Gas Mileage???? Who the H*ll cares when you can afford a car like this and he drives it less that 500 miles a year.<br /><br />There is a heat sheild behind the bumper.<br /><br />This car is an 87 and it has only 27,000 miles. There were very few of the slant nose Porsches imported to the US that year, like about 25. This a a very rare car. Changing things like we did has no effect on the price of the car though as long as you keep everything you take off.

Honestly, its still in the works, took forever to get it all together, now that this car is done and out of the way we will get back on it. We have one picked out and now have to see how deep the concrete is here where we want to put it. Has to be at least 4 1/2".

Re: Turbo Porsche, ever wonder?

Thanks for the reply LD, I forgot that they were rare cars in the US and of course the old adage of "if you have to ask how much then you can't afford it"! :D <br /><br />Thanks for letting me know about the heatshield, it was bugging me trying to figure out how you'd protect that expensive turbo.<br /><br />Looks like you did a great job......now, when I move to the US is there any chance of getting a shot of driving it :D ;)

According to a well known Australian V8 Supercar driver (Larry Perkins) Porsches are nothing more than berludey overgrown Volkswagons! 12 sec standing 1/4s! Bah humbug... try 10.86 seconds with a completely standard production vehicle. ZX-10Rs rule! :D
