I switched prop today and took a test run. Top speed at WOT was 45knots(GPS) and rpm about 5200. So the Ballistic stands undefeated. However, when I had the Ballistic I had a different bottom paint. It's like the bottom paint I use now produces more drag, so the results are maybe not comparable. The slip seems to be a bit higher now since the Ballistic did 48.5knots at 5300rpm if my memory serves me correctly.
Accordingly to the data sheets, the paint is for fast motor boats and is manufactured by International. I used roller when I applied it, so the surface is a bit bumpy, should I have used a brush instead? Any ideas?
I'm thinking I should test a Ballistic 14x21 with my current setup, then I would know if my rig is less efficient now than before the repaint and the jack plate. Anyone interested in trading a Ballistic for a Lightning?
