I have a 14 ft wooden 40 hsp. evinrude outboard boat and I am not sure what year it is, could someone tell me the year? <br />It wont stay running when it starts, I think it needs a carb kit, are they hard to do? or is there other adjustments I can do ot it.<br />the motor is a lark Evinrude 40 hsp. <br />Model no. 408720<br />serial no. c576972

a carb kit is not that hard to do i just did one on my 66 rude 40 hp no problems at all went smooth also would replace the points and plugs if going to give her a tune up
