I noticed a posting that went through a tune up on a 3hp motor. Are the tune up procedures the same for any horse power motor? I have an Evinrude 1996 48hp that I just bought and I'm having idle problems .

dennis, to keep that engine in top notch shape, and help you understand it. get the Evinrude service manual for it. it will be the best book you ever bought. there are basics, but each size engine has it's differences.

Yes...I have a service manual on its way from ebay.... I figure I better get one and learn to do it myself.... or win the lottery because that's how expensive it is to get a shop to work on it.

Once you get the manual read the section over on the ignition and carb.
Then go at the motor, it will make more sense
I took a couple of pictures of the wiring to help, as if your like me it wont come apart and go back together the same day

trust me.. I wish I would have had my video camera going while my dad was quote "helping me adjust it"
I plan on filming the whole thing after I get my manual.
