Tune up parts for 50's 5.5's

Hello all.
I have a 57 - 5.5 Johnson and a 59 5.5 Evinrude that I am wanting to work on this winter. I'm (at this point) looking for coils, points, impellers and finding my normal sources only go back to about 1968 for parts. Is there a cross reference I can use to see what parts I'm needing are the same as newer engines? For these types of parts I would really like to buy new rather than used but I'm a little stuck for a source right now. Hoping someone here can get me going in the right direction. Thanks, Rick.

marineengine goes back to 1955 i think. and there is a site that cross references omc part numbers to sierra.

He has good deals on coils, especially the more you buy. Four coils will cost you about the same as a pair will anywhere else.

Those motors use the same coils and points, from 1951, all the way up to about 1976, so replacement ignition parts won't be a problem.

You can also get them all right here at iboats. Coils, tune up kits (points & condensers), and carb kits are only about $20 each. Here's a great link to walk you through the whole process as well as a link to a complete parts catalog with exploded diagrams of your motor.

..and the omc part number for the plastic float that will work is, 396514 ( the sierra carb kit 18-7043, doesnt include the float)
