What should the compressions be on this motor? 81 evinrude 115. What exactley do I do to bring this motor back to par?? The engine runs good while flying across the water, when we slow back down and at just an idle it seems as if its starved for gas, and when I try to fire it back up it takes forever to do it! Sometimes it gives a sneeze if you know what I mean. So like I was asking anways... how do I bring this motor back to par?? I work on car motors all the time and am very know alot about them but new to boat motors! Any help besides just taking it to a shop and having it worked on would be great!

O ya, the guy I bought it from said he has had the carbs cleaned and adjusted and new water pump by a shop just before I got it. Plus the first time I had it out on the water, it wasnt as bad. Thanks for your help!

What is the right plug for this motor? Gap?

Plugs: Champion QL77JC4, gapped at .040 .

Spark should jump a 7/16" gap with the spark plugs removed.

Compression: 100+ psi and fairly even on all cylinders.

Cranking speed must be at least 300 rpm in order for the ignition to be enerigized properly.

Sneezing? Normally indicates fouled carburetor(s), running lean at low speed. Usually restricted jets.

Let us know what you find.

How do I know if it is 300 rpm?? I was also wondering if anybody knew what a complete tune up details? How do I change the fluids in the motor? Is there any? I heard that you need to lube the prop somewhere? What does this detail?
