Tune up - 1986 4.3L Cobra

My son's 1986 celebrity boat has which has been a great boat has recently lost its power when engine loaded. Next weekend, I will visit him and attempt to check out electrical system, including timing, dwell, plug gaps, point gap, etc. What should timing be and at what rpm? point gap? Engine cranks fine and idles fine. which cylinder is #1?<br />Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

You can buy a Clymer OMC Cobra 86-93 Repair Manual at any boat store.<br /><br />Cost $30....well worth it.

port side #1 front to back<br />firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2<br />point gap-.019<br />dwell -37-41<br />timing-6 deg <br />idle says 500-600?<br />plug gap.035

thanks for the information. i once had a great owners maintenance manual and a clymer's, but son has misplaced everything.
